We are currently seeking a Construction Manager with 0–5 years of experience in construction management, cost estimating, or a related field. Entry-level candidates with relevant education, internships, or hands-on construction experience are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should be ready to handle a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, development of construction cost estimates based on takeoffs,, project scheduling, submittal and RFI’s reviews, maintaining logs, documentation management and site inspections and monitoring.  The candidate would also have the opportunity to coordinate with project team members including architects, engineers, and design staff.

The position is part of the Project Management and Construction Management Department. This person should be a quick, flexible thinker and problem-solver who is accustomed to working in fluid teams on tight deadlines. This full-time position will be based at Colby Co.’s office in Portland, Maine. Occasional travel may be required.

Desired traits:

  • BS in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred
  • Understanding of building design and construction 
  • Inter-disciplinary knowledge of building systems, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
  • Understanding of building code requirements and the industry standard of care
  • Understanding of construction scheduling, cost estimating, and construction phase services a plus
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate and collaborate across teams
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite, RS Means, MCACES MII a plus

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $70,000–$80,000 annually

Fire Protection Engineer

This position is a part of the MEP Engineering Department which is comprised of fire protection, mechanical and electrical engineers. Desired traits:

  • Experience with Life Safety Code Consulting, Performance Based Design, and Fire Protection System Design
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including how Fire Protection Systems coordinate with other Building Systems
  • Successful completion of the FE exam
  • PE License a plus
  • Experience with AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other modeling software a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit a plus
  • Sustainable design experience a plus

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $120,000–$150,000 annually

Mechanical Designer

  • Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction
