Colby Co. is providing design services for a new electrical substation with a contextual facade located in Bar Harbor, Maine. The Emera owned site abuts historically significant property, as well as the heavily traveled Route 3, and we worked closely with a Citizen Advisory Board via the local Project Manager Jim Brooks from Sevee & Maher engineers. The design process included iterations based upon the Citizen Advisory Board’s feedback and critique. The final “carriage house stable design” reflects, in part, a period when cars were not allowed on the island and is a nod to the farmhouse that existed on the property in the early 20th century.
