Colby Co. hosted three volunteer events at Sebago Lake State Park in October and November. Close to 100 volunteers performed trail maintenance activities during the three events to include clearing 225+ campsites of leaves and debris. The team also raked, trimmed, cleared branches, did basic stone work, repaired water drainage points and spread gravel on Sebago Lake State Park’s trails.
Each year Colby Co. provides a Maine State Park Vehicle Pass to each of its employees. With our combined State Park visits, we have visited all of the 39 Maine State Parks. We all value the Maine State Parks System and we were glad to help make Sebago more accessible for next year’s users.
Colby Co. was recently awarded an Architecture and Engineering Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the United States Postal Service (USPS). The 10-year contract is intended to provide Architecture and Engineering building design services to the USPS in Maine and Rhode Island.
Colby Co. has supported the USPS since 2011 for projects in Maine and New Hampshire, including buildings of historical significance. The renovation and repair projects have included building envelope upgrades, window replacements, interior renovations, HVAC and lighting upgrades and emergency repair support.
Colby Co. was recently named as one of the 2019 Best Places to Work in Maine, ranking #3 in the Small Business Category. This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2019 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 75 companies in three size categories: small (15-49 U.S. employees), medium (50-249 U.S. employees) and large (250+ U.S. employees).
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience which is worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation.

On November 30, 2018 Colby Co kids had the night of their life when Colby Co. took over the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine! Work-life balance is incredibly important to the culture at Colby Co., and family comes first. This was an opportunity to celebrate the kids that keep Colby Co. young! Employees and their families enjoyed food, face painting, and balloon animals while exploring the museum after hours, making this a fun night for the kids of all ages.
