It’s August 2026, and the Colby Co. team just returned from the New England Outdoor Center (NEOC) in Millinocket, Maine, for our seventh annual company retreat. This tradition continues to be a cornerstone of our team culture, providing a vital opportunity for colleagues to step away from their desks, reconnect with one another, and enjoy the natural beauty of Maine.
A special highlight this year was the “bonus sunshine”—the beautiful weather that defied initial forecasts and allowed everyone to make the most of our outdoor time. Over the course of the weekend, the team took full advantage of the many activities available at NEOC. From exploring the Katahdin area trails either hiking or mountain biking, to enjoying Millinocket Lake with canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding, there was no shortage of adventure. For some employees, this meant braving the rapids for a whitewater rafting excursion, while others enjoyed a competitive round of golf at the Hillcrest Golf Club.
Beyond the outdoor exploration, the trip was, at its heart, about fostering connections. Whether it was gathering for team dinners, or high-energy game nights, the retreat provided a space for meaningful conversation and team bonding that extends well beyond the office environment.
The weekend was also a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines Colby Co., with our dynamic administrative team who coordinated carpools, logistics, and shared meal planning, ensuring the event was a success for all attendees.
As we return to our projects and daily routines, we have another year of memories from a fantastic weekend of adventure and connection. We are already looking forward to doing it all again next year!
